چکیده

This paper shows an application of the fuzzy-logic approach to mobile mapping issues, presenting results of fuzzy processing of the C/A-code-based GPS measurements (standalone static positioning), whose accuracy depends essentially on the satellite observation geometry, expressed numerically by the GDOP (Geometrical Dilution Of Precision) factor, and on the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR). A fuzzy controller, developed in the Matlab environment, is presented together with the envisaged rule base and the design steps (fuzzification, inference engine, defuzzification). A quality index is derived from the fuzzy-logic based data analysis, which allows us to select the “best” GPS observables to be processed in the positioning equations. Experimental results are presented and discussed from real data gathered by a commercial GPS receiver (the Garmin® GPS25-LV 12-channel receiver). Significant improvements of the positioning accuracy have been obtained with respect to the “raw” fixes provided by the receiver, showing the usefulness of the fuzzy-processed position fixes. * Corresponding author.

Increasing Accuracy of Combined GPS and GLONASS Positioning using Fuzzy Kalman Filter

In this paper, combined GPS and GLONASS positioning systems are discussed and some solutions have been proposed to improve the accuracy of navigation. Global Satellite Navigation System (GNSS) is able to provide position, velocity and time with respect to coordinated universal time. GNSS positioning is based on received satellite signals, so its performance is highly dependent on the quality of...

Enhancing GNSS Positioning with 3D Mapping

The number of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) signals that can be received in dense urban areas has increased through the availability of multiple satellite constellations and high sensitivity receivers. However, in these constrained environments, the blockage and reflection of many of the signals by buildings and other obstacles means that poor positioning accuracy remains a problem...

High-Accuracy Positioning in Urban Environments Using Single-Frequency Multi-GNSS RTK/MEMS-IMU Integration

The integration of Global Positioning System (GPS) real-time kinematics (RTK) and an inertial navigation system (INS) has been widely used in many applications, such as mobile mapping and autonomous vehicle control. Such applications require high-accuracy position information. However, continuous and reliable high-accuracy positioning is still challenging for GPS/INS integration in urban enviro...

Trends in Geopositioning for Lbs, Navigation and Mapping

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based technology that has truly revolutionised many positioning and navigation activities, and today stands unchallenged as the ‘first choice’ position determination technology for all outdoor applications. GPS is global, works in all weather conditions, is available 24hrs a day and is free of user charges. Thanks to the revolution in microelec...
